Animals Asia
Animals Asia Foundation
"The mission of the Animals Asia Foundation is to improve the lives of all animals in Asia, end cruelty and restore respect for animals Asia-wide."

Animals Asia Foundation is a Hong Kong-based government-registered animal welfare charity founded by Jill Robinson MBE in 1998. It also has charitable status in UK, USA, Germany and Australia with donations being tax-deductible in these countries. It has additional offices in China.

As of 2005, Animals Asia had 17 full-time employees working in the Head Office in Hong Kong. Apart from UK and Germany that have offices, that consist of employees and volunteers working out of their homes in Australia, USA and New Zealand.

In China, we employee 2 full-time vets, 3 vet nurses, 2 bear managers, 12 management staff and over 100 administrative staff and workers. As our Sanctuary grows and we open to the public, this number will grow.

Our Mission and Vision

Asia Based

Asia Focussed

Forging Asian Solutions

The Animals Asia Foundation is devoted to the needs of wild, domesticated and endangered species throughout the Asian continent.

Our Mission
"The mission of the Animals Asia Foundation is to improve the lives of all animals in Asia, end cruelty and restore respect for animals Asia-wide."

Our Vision
Change for all animals, inspired by empathy for the few.

Our animal ambassadors embody the ideal that empathy for one animal can evolve into empathy for an entire species and ultimately for all species.

Our Approach
The Animals Asia Foundation, managed by professionals, resident in Asia, is committed to forging constructive solutions to the seemingly insurmountable problems which the animals face in today's changing environment. Implementation is through a dynamic three-pronged approach:

Investigation: Using the latest veterinary techniques, animal care and conservation science, our network of field officers target countries in Asia, identifying local needs and finding solutions for the animals.

Negotiation: Cultivating sensitive communication and cooperation with governments to open the door to visionary win-win solutions.

Education: Creating inspired grass roots programmes within the community, which spark far reaching change in people's attitudes, thus motivating them to co-exist peacefully with animals.

Animals Australia

Who is Animals Australia Inc.?

Our vision is for a world where animals are not exploited for profit or entertainment and where all animal suffering is eliminated.
Animals Australia is Australia's second largest and most dynamic national animal protection organisation, representing some 40 member societies and thousands of individual supporters throughout Australia.

Animals Australia has an unprecedented track record in investigating and exposing animal cruelty. In the past four years our work has resulted in four 60 Minutes segments exposing the cruelty in the live export trade and further segments highlighting animal cruelty on Today Tonight, Four Corners and Landline. Investigations in the Middle East have resulted in the first ever suspension of the live export trade (to Egypt) and to a benchmark prosecution of a live export company for cruelty.

Animals Australia believes that we can create a better world for all through promoting kindness to animals. Our goal is to significantly and permanently improve the welfare of all animals in Australia.

We are committed and unrelenting. We expose suffering, we educate the broader community, we research alternatives and we passionately and intelligently lobby governments to effect changes in laws to protect all animals. We have representation on all major state and national animal welfare committees.

We are a non-profit charitable organisation financed through community support. Our important work on behalf of animals is reliant on the generosity of our members and donors.

Animals Australia's goal is to significantly and permanently improve the welfare of all animals in Australia.

Major Campaigns:

SaveBabe.com was launched in 2004 to highlight the hidden suffering of factory farmed pigs in Australia. This high profile campaign has enjoyed the support of caring celebrities such as James Cromwell, Jackie O’, Rebecca Gibney and Suzie Wilks. Laws have failed to protect millions of pigs each year from acts of cruelty. Visit SaveBabe.com to find out what you can do to help these intelligent and inquisitive animals.

LiveAnimalExport-Indefensible.com: Australia is the largest exporter of live animals in the world. Millions of animals, mostly cattle and sheep, are exported by sea each year. Many die on the way: all suffer. Animals Australia has conducted numerous ground-breaking investigations into treatment of animals in the live export industry, resulting in public outcry and government suspensions of the trade. However, we will not rest until this trade is ended. Visit LiveExport-Indefensible.com to find out why!

FreeBetty.com: Even today, over 75% of Australia's laying hens are imprisoned for life in battery hen cages so small that they cannot stretch their wings. Each bird is given less space to live than 1 A4 sized piece of paper and is forced to uncomfortably stand on and rub painfully against bare wire; day after day; night after night. The stress of battery cage life drives many hens to peck out their feathers, and peck their cagemates (their beaks are often painfully sliced off to reduce this). Despite being banned in other parts of the world, these cruel practices are legal in Australia. Visit FreeBetty.com to find out how you can free Betty and millions of other hens imprisoned in Australian battery hen farms.

Codes of Cruelty: How effective is our animal protection legislation in Australia? Does it protect ALL from suffering and acts of cruelty? The answer is no. Tragically, the vast majority of animals in human care in this country—some 500 million production animals—have been excluded from the protection of our animal welfare legislation. As a result, millions of farm animals daily endure housing conditions and acts of cruelty that would be illegal if it instead involved a companion animal. See the website to find out how you can help these animals.
